Is Tomasso pretending to be Italian? His name isn't Italian.?

Tomasso isn't an Italian name, nor is it even a real name in existence. I just barely realized this when I read a book about Italian history and I saw that Tommaso is the correct spelling. Ci dispiace, ma non si è Tomasso italiano.
