The Who makes who look better paradox?

Got this brilliant piece of question while reading a football forum, I;m really struggling to get proper answer for this question, here it is:

Frankly I am stumped.
So depending on the situation we have fans of other clubs say 'X' player makes 'Y' player look good for Barca.
Sometimes its Iniesta,Messi and the system who make Xavi look good.
A United fan,the same United whom Xavi has so completely dominated in not one but 2 CL finals, thinks Xavi is a joke and its Pep who makes him look good.
Then the same fans would go and say that Iniesta is overrated and its actually Xavi and Messi who make him look good.
And now since its Copa time its Messi's turn to draw the flak.Apparently right now its Xavi and Iniesta who make Messi look good.
Alves to it seems is not all that great. Its the system and the usual suspects who make him look good.

We have also heard how Busquets would struggle outside the system and how the trinity and Barca's system make him look good.
Same with Puyol,Pique and any Barca player.

And last but not least,Pep Guardiola.According to the very same geniuses he is overrated and only made to look good by the SYSTEM and the PLAYERS.

So .I ask the question. What exactly is the truth?Who makes whom look good?

You have totally and utterly misunderstood the concept

It's not all or nothing, it's not that these players individual are nothing but great within the team

This is what is meant.... try to keep up this time

Each individual player is a very good player, they are all very talented and would perform well in any team BUT together they are on another level.... not ONE of those players except Villa, Abidal & Puyol would be as great as they are in any other team......

Xavi would not attempt/complete as many passes or get the ball as much as he does as other teams won't work like Barca, they won't keep the ball for 70% of the game. Other teams can't do that as they don't have the proper players. Put Xavi in Chelsea or Utd or Inter and he would suffer. Just like he was prior Pep..... Ordinary...... As I've told you before it took the perfect circumstances for Xavi to succeed (same goes for the Spanish National team, imagine him in Portugal, Germany etc).... Best Midfielder of all time? Now that's a joke....

And the same can be said of Pique, Valdes, Alves, Busquets, Iniesta, Messi & Pedro..... not that these are bad players, that's not the point, they are all great players but together are all at another level. Individually these players are on the same level as Real Madrids players, but together they are more effective.

But Puyol and Villa can play anywhere as be as good. Villa was much better at Valencia and Puyol, unlike Xavi, shone before Pep. He hasn't changed, he's always been that strong centre back. Abidal just goes about his business, he's a player you don't notice, like Arbeloa, reliable, does not have a bad game nor does he impress and stand out....

All the other players benefit from the team.... which is a great thing....

Pep is managing a great team, so yes it does make him look better and yes he did impact this team and we can argue that he is the main reason, that if another coach took over Barca wouldn't be here etc but we can't say that. Pep made subtle changes, nothing drastic, which were started by Cruyff.

But Barca is suited to Pep better than any other team. Will Pep get another team to play as well as Barca and win as many trophies? No.....

So right now Barca have the perfect team, they have the players and the coach who understand every aspect, and together they are superb. Everywhere else, such as Messi in Argentina, they are just great players, and great players don't win you trophies, great teams do..... and that's what Barca is... a great team....

EDIT

Exactly.... Xavi was good... but not this good

Messi would be great, I agree with that, but he wouldn't be at this level, like you said his level of performance would drop....

I never said those players were not good, just not as great as they are in this system

its one system and all part has to be working well so the system work

the secret that makes barcelona strong is not messi , iniesta , xavi , or pep , its the chemistry , it takes time till a player Adapt into a team but as most of barcelona players are from spain national team they already know each other . they won the world cup , how bad they can be?

the rest is some none sense accusation from frustrated fans of other teams and that's the fact

Lets put it this way

Messi without xavi and inesta is like a bullet(a really big powerful 45 caliber bullet) with no gun,Useless but xavi and inesita are the gun which doesnt require bullets as u can still whip/hit/swat somebody with it.

Tell me what simalarities do u see in the worlds greatest competitions champions

Euro 08

WC 2010 and 3 CL Titles

XAVI and INEsITA not messi

And Xavi is better than Inesita

Xavi is a better midfielder on average than messi is a striker on average ,

As for the diver busquets ,i dont know where people got "hes good" with barcelona or without hes suxs, thats why barcelona are gonna blow the bank to replace him, instead of getting they dna filled baby,Cesc that they talk some much about

As for pep.......come on bro be honest, stevie wonder could manager barcelona with the team they got

Just wait and see if pep leaves ,he gonna be wishing he can come back for the easy cake, and youll see how good messi is when xavi begins his decline,we mighf even see it this season cuz hes 32

Sometimes fans contradict each other.

But the truth here, and you can't deny it, is that all the players just suit perfectly the Barcelona system and that's why they make each other look good.

You can clearly see that Messi and Alves are not so great outside Barcelona for there countries.

Xavi and Iniesta is tbh an uncertanty because they play for Spain as well witch replicates the Barcelona way of playing the most perfectly.

Simple

Xavi, Iniesta, Messi, Alves can't play well without each other.

Pep Guardiola is overrated, he won trophies with sum of the best players in the world.

to me individually they are all overrated with the exception of puyol, xavi, iniesta, villa. and abidal to me its the system that makes the other players look good almost any palyer that was fast and was a good finisher could take pedro's spot same with valdez if barca got attacked more he wouldn't be condsiderd that good

no i said he's overrated he's the best in the world but he is not best of all time

however i wish he would be able to reach maradona's level...he's not an idiot like maradona

To put it plainly, Xavi, Iniesta and Messi are not the same players we see without the tiki-taka system and Pep's trophies is owed to his players who suit well with the Barca system which is the only tactic he knows.

look Marcelo and Alves don't do their attacking part in Brazil like they do in Real Madrid or Barcelona. Messi doesn't score goals in Argentina and Iniesta doesn't assist well in spain like they do in Barca.

Now, Xavi makes all those barca players mentioned and Pedro look good because he is the best play maker in Barca. In R.Madrid, Ozil, Alonso, Di maria and Real Madrid make marcelo look good lol jk only Alonso and Di maria make him look good. I mentioned Marcelo cause he's just like alves in club-international thing and alves has the same issue as iniesta and messi people making him look good. oh and maradona made messi look good oh wait that's vice versa

All of them make each other look good, I would say its a perfect combo. That's why separately they look no where near the same level as they do together, perfect examples of this are Messi and Dani Alves.
